HUNDREDS of fight fans from across Camden and Islington turned out at the Royal National Hotel in Bloomsbury on Friday to enjoy a night out that really packed a punch.

Islington ABC served up a knock-out night of top boxing at their first dinner show of the season. A packed event saw a sell-out, 500-strong, crowd cheering on 10 entertaining bouts featuring some of the club’s most promising young fighters.

Hosted by former world champion Glenn Catley, Alfy Andrews stole the show and was presented with the Best Home Boxer of the Night Award following his points win over Nathan Hall from Windrush Valley ABC.

Debutants Bobbi-Lee Wyatt and Calum Angel-Taylor also delivered strong performances in the distinctive white and red of Islington.

Bobbi-Lee proved just why she’s being dubbed as one of the ones to watch in the future. She oozed class as she impressively boxed her way to a unanimous points decision over Caroline Parker from Strood ABC.

Calum was also quick to take control of the centre of the ring and soon found his range with some eye-catching punches. His quick-fire technique scored a technical knock-out against Lion ABC’s Paddy McDonagh.

England representative Cherrelle Brown closed the show with a split decision win over Irish international Kelly Harrington. Cherrelle deserved to have her hand lifted in victory following a hard-fought contest.

Islington manager Lenny Hagland said that he was delighted by all the support on the night. “The show was a great success and a good amount was raised for the club,” he said. “Islington Boxing Club wants to thank all of our loyal supporters for coming along.”
