FUTURE football stars are in with a chance of scoring their team a personalised new strip following the launch of a London-wide kit competition.

If a budding young designer can catch the eye and imagination of Camden goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux, they could be one of three lucky winners that will then see their designs brought to life.

Fresh from winning the League Two title and promotion with Leyton Orient, Vigouroux, who grew up on the Ampthill Square estate near Mornington Crescent, will be part of the judging panel. He will be joined by, among others, Ash Rahman, who helped coach Vigouroux as a youngster when he played for Pro Touch SA.

“Team kits have always been iconic for fans and players alike,” said Vigouroux. “We all grew up with a football top with our idol’s name on the back.

“Not only will giving young footballers their own team kit make them feel like superstars, but I hope the kits will also make the teams feel a sense of togetherness and team spirit that is invaluable in a sport like football.”

The competition, which has been organised by self-storage company Attic Self Storage, is open to six to 15-year-olds from across the capital. To enter, just visit the Attic website and download the kit template and then get cracking with a creative shirt and shorts design. The competition will run until June 19.

Pro Touch SA founder Rahman said he was really excited to see what designs the young people of London will produce.

He added: “I am thrilled to be involved in this project, as it aligns so closely with Pro Touch’s mission and my own drive to support young, aspiring footballers to find their feet within the sport.

“I have seen first-hand the difference a team kit can make to morale and aspiration and can’t wait to see all the designs when they come in.”

Along with the opportunity of winning a team kit, there will also be an additional chance for one lucky youngster to win a one-off personal kit for themselves by sharing their design on Facebook using the hashtag #AtticStrikeingKit
