Jubilee mug

‘A special mug for Gospel Oak’

• THE monarchist and other citizens of Camden will, no doubt, be making their plans to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty in June and applying for council grants.

We should make this a local event too. No doubt there will be a new set of coronation mugs. I still have mine given by the local council in 1952.

And 2022 is the ninth anniversary of the demolition of Bacton Low Rise and the boarding up of the three small sites on Grafton Road, previously lovingly gardened by residents.

A traditional gift is pottery for nine-year anniversaries. So I suggest we have a special mug for Gospel Oak with a picture like this (above) on one side of the mug and that of the current Camden Community Investment Programme cabinet member on the other.

We could sell them down the Queen’s Crescent Market with profits going to the excellent green sustainability bond scheme promoted some weeks ago by Councillor Adam Harrison.

Indeed, we could have a second mug with a picture of the vast BLR building site but we would need a very large mug.

Perhaps other readers can suggest designs for other local mugs to celebrate our community.
