Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in NW3

• WE have again been lucky to see the Swiss Cottage blooms of “sakura”, the Japanese name for the cherry blossom season.

This annual reminder of the turn of season is welcomed in by the blossoms adjacent to Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre and the nearby library.

Local people and tourists delight in this cheerful display of nature and many photos are taken, some by Japanese enthusiasts in traditional dress.

Having been to Japan several times, my photo made me look as if I had been on a return holiday overseas as I stood under the bountiful display in Camden.

This reminder of beauty in our borough reminds us all of our good fortune to have so many parks and open spaces for children and adults to relax in natural surroundings.

So, come to Swiss Cottage, Japanese style, and bask in this beautiful display. Bring your camera!
