Decision-making and the O2 Centre site

• CAMDEN Council leader Georgia Gould addressed London First, a body devoted to the financial exploitation of our city, on June 29 2021 at exactly the time when Land Securities (Landsec), owner of the O2 site in Finchley Road, were publishing the first documentation for their massively over-scaled development proposal, and were already causing the great public disquiet (ongoing and getting worse).
The London First event was described on the organisation’s website as “an excellent opportunity to hear the leader discuss her priorities for Camden, her perspective on the key issues facing London business, and the role that local government can play”.
You’ll never guess who sponsored this event: Landsec.
No doubt Cllr Gould would argue that there is no conflict of interest here, that it is part of her job to attend these events, and that her rubbing shoulders with the decision-makers of Landsec cannot possibly, in any way, influence Camden’s attitude to the forthcoming planning application for the O2.
