CNJ Challenge Cup
THE preliminary round of the Camden Sunday League CNJ Challenge Cup was bursting with action at the weekend with eight fixtures boasting an impressive 59 goals at Hackney Marshes.
Athletico Annies will be among the sides now looking forward to the first round proper after they came from a goal down to beat London Badgers 6-2 thanks to a masterclass of finishing from Danny Bunce.
The Badgers opened up a 1-0 lead within 10 minutes but debutant David Dawson quickly equalised with a 30-yard screamer that went in off the crossbar.
Man-of-the-match Bunce then stole the show as he scored five second-half goals to guide Annies to a comprehensive victory.
The most pulsating ties saw Dinamo Dorigo thrash out an 8-6 win over Stamford Athletic, while Chalk Scratchings beat AFC Shooters 8-5 to continue their perfect start to the season.
Elsewhere a controversial penalty helped Enate United narrowly beat Boundary Estate 3-2, while there were also wins for Cobden Athletic, AFC Brasenose, AFC Birkbeck Orient and Tufnell Park Athletic.
