Cyclists’ racing on the public road should be condemned

Thursday, 9th August 2018

• I WAS taken aback, and a little shocked, by the headline and general tone of your report about cyclists racing on one of our area’s busiest roads, (Cyclists say claim they are racing along Euston Road is ‘taxi propaganda’, August 2).

It’s ridiculous to call it “friendly competition”: it is dangerous behaviour. The taxi drivers are right to draw attention to it.

The unnamed cycling groups’ comment that most people travelling on two wheels are not trying to break records is very weak. Should the practice not have been condemned? Where is the cycling leadership?
