THE huge cheers drowned out the referee’s whistle on Saturday as footballers celebrated booking their place in the grand finals of the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League Challenge Cup.

Among the sides celebrating was Pro Touch Soccer Academy, who recorded a 5-3 victory in their semi-final showdown against Regent’s Park in the Under-9s age group.

Pro Touch will now face RPT, who netted a 1-0 win over Daryl’s Dragons in their semi final.

The cup finals are scheduled to take place at Regent’s Park on March 12 and 19.

West End’s young yellow and blues

Among the other teams with plenty of reason to cheer was West End FC, who showed off their skills at Market Road in Islington recently in the Cally Stars Youth Cup.

Made up of some of the club’s Under-6s and Under-7s, West End’s young yellow and blues stormed into the final after winning all three of their group games before beating Westway 3-1 in the semi-finals.

Led by star player Lucas Jackson, West End just missed out in the final as they lost to AC United. Manager Peter Chapman said: “The boys made us all very proud.”
