PLAYERS from Sapo Verde celebrated the success of one of their team-mates in fitting style on Friday when they hit six in their cup final in the Camden and Islington Youth Football League.
A hat-trick from star player Jamal Mohammed and two goals from Nathan Jobbins, along with an own-goal, saw Sean McCarthy’s side beat European Football Academy 6-2 to win the Under-11s Challenge Cup.
Rory Walter
The victory was dedicated to team-mate Rory Walter who had to miss the final because he was at Lord’s being presented with his first cricket cap after being selected to play for Middlesex Colts Under-11s.
“Receiving my first county cap was one of the best days of my life, but I was really disappointed not to be able to play in the final,” said Rory, who lives in Highgate.
“I kept thinking about how the team was getting on but I shouldn’t have worried, I knew the boys would bring the cup home.”
