IT’S one down and, hope-fully, two to go for treble chasers Coalition Crusaders after they beat King’s Hell Cats at the weekend to win the Camden Sunday League Junior Cup.
The young and energetic side have won over a lot of admirers in their first season at Hackney Marshes with their free-flowing football.
Their positive and pacy style proved the difference yet again on Sunday as second-half goals from Nick Riley, Mustafa Baskal and Lewis Williams sealed a 3-1 victory over the Hell Cats.
Having proudly seen his side lift the Junior Cup, manager Turker Mustafa is hoping there’s more silverware to come as the Crusaders look to add the Division Three title and the Challenge Cup to what promises to be a rapidly growing honours list.
“The boys have exceeded my expectations coming into the season,” he said. “Our only target was to finish in the top three and if we were really lucky maybe squeeze into the top two and gain promotion.”
And he added: “As a club our emphasis was to build a young squad that could stick together for a minimum of five years and win everything in sight. The average age of the team is only 23.
“The treble is very much on but we’re taking each game as it comes and I’m not about to let the players get carried away.”
