ALL eyes will be on Sheffield this Saturday when defending champion Mark Selby and his challengers take to the tables for the 2015 World Snooker Championships.
Among the fans eagerly-awaiting for the sport’s premier showpiece to get under way are pocket rockets Jackson Song and Adam Stacey – who both have hopes that one day they will bring the Crucible crowd to its feet.
The pair both train at the Snooker Kids Club, which is held at King’s Cross Hurricane Room every Saturday.
Coach John Wood, who runs the three-and-a-half-hour sessions for just a fiver, believes that they’re both good enough to make it to the very top – providing they put in the hours on the practice table.
“They’re both really good players. If they keep training hard enough I can see them going a long way in the sport,” said John, who lives in Angel.
“Jackson recently made a break of 120 in a practice routine, potting 15 reds and 15 blacks. That’s pretty impressive for an 11-year-old. I’d say he’s one of the best players in his age group in the country.
“Adam has been playing longer so is obviously more experienced,” added John.
“He’s got a regional tour event in Newbury this Saturday and, although it’ll be tough, if he plays at his best, he’s got a chance of winning it.”
