JON Taylor helped fire Crouch End Rangers 10 points clear at the top of Division One of the Camden Sunday League – but almost didn’t make it to the game following an early morning brush with the law.
The in-form winger was giving a lift to Rangers captain Ash Clark to Hackney Marshes when he was pulled over by police and told one of his tyres was too flat to drive on. The duo jumped on an east London bus and made it seconds before kick-off.
Taylor certainly made his presence felt, scoring twice as they beat Tufnell Park Athletic 4-1 to make it 10 wins from 12 league games. Simon Collings and David Edgar were also on target for Crouch End.
On Sunday Cobden Athletic went one better as they beat Enate 5-1. Errol Resat led the charge with a hat-trick. An own goal and a 25-yard strike from Jacob Bond completed the rout.
