ONE of the performances of the day in the Middlesex County Cricket League on Saturday undoubtedly came at Milverton Road in Willesden Green where South Hampstead’s Bilal Akram left spectators in seventh heaven.
The fast bowler lit-up the second XI’s match against Wycombe House as he took seven wickets, in seven overs for just seven runs – including an amazing hat-trick.
Varun Agnish and Rajesh Patel batted with tremendous maturity in very tough conditions to score 44 and 42 respectively to help South Hampstead to 212-8 off 52 overs before declaring.
That’s when Akram, who has now taken 16 wickets in four games, took centre-stage to guide his team to their first win of the season.
The seventh over of his spell started with a single, but he was soon celebrating in style as he claimed four wickets in five balls to dismiss Wycombe House for just 33 runs and earn South Hampstead a whopping 179-run victory.
