Cricket: Highgate lose out to a tail-ender

JAKE Sharland top-scored for Highgate with 55 as they posted 175-8 off 55 overs away at Barnes in Division Three.
It almost proved a winning effort, but a last-ditch effort from tail-ender Jared Schmidt, who scored 43 off 43 balls, earnt Barnes a two-wicket win with 178-8 off 43 overs.
South Hampstead also just missed out on victory in their home match against Uxbridge.
Austin Ambrose scored 93 off 67 balls as Uxbridge hit 257-5 off 50 overs before declaring.
In reply South Hampstead managed 230 all out, with opener Leroy Shepherd top-scoring for the hosts with 65.
