NORTH Middlesex showed their strength in depth with the bat on Saturday as they chased down a competitive total away at Richmond to record their third win of the season.

Opener James Wood can be forgiven for thinking he had done enough with the bat to earn the home side the points as he scored 97 off 119 balls, including 12 fours, before being bowled by Dexter Thomas.

With Simon Elliott chipping in with a quick-fire 42, Richmond notched-up 223-5 off 48 overs before declaring.

Kaleem Hussein and Jaron Semper both bowled well for North Middlesex and they collected two wickets each.

In contrasting styles openers Damien Wall and Adam Holmes made a bright start for the visitors.

Wall quickly smashed 21 off 36 balls, including three fours, before being dismissed lbw by Jack Porter.

But it was a more patient knock of 65 off 116 balls, which included two fours and a mighty six, from skipper Holmes that proved instrumental in the North Middlesex victory.

With Tom Nicoll scoring 47, and Semper and Evan Flowers hitting 34 and 23 respectively, North Middlesex reached their winning total of 224-6 within 49 overs to claim a well-earned 10 points.
