NORTH Middlesex handled a testing damp pitch well on Saturday to record their second win of the season away at Harrow.
Deciding to bowl first, the visitors got off to a great start as they took three early wickets with Nick Brand dismissing the openers and Will Wootton also claiming a scalp to leave Harrow struggling on 6-3.
To their credit, the home side battled back with Darius D’Souza leading the charge with 95 off 137 balls. His efforts, along with a well-crafted 40 from Ajay Patdiwala, saw Harrow recover to post a score of 207 all out off 52.3 overs.
Brand was the pick of the North Midd bowlers as he took 3-49 in 15 overs, while Jaron Semper and Kaleem Hussein collected two wickets each.
The task of toppling Harrow’s total was made that much harder for North Midd as they lost four overs to rain.
That made the combined efforts from Damian Wall, Evan Flowers and Tom Nicoll all the more satisfying as they set about a very clinical run chase.
Opener Wall and Nicoll both showed tremendous shot selection to score 49 runs each.
But it was Flowers who stole the show as he hit 86 not out off 95 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes.
In fitting fashion the talented batsman finished the game with four consecutive boundaries as North Midd hit their winning score of 208-3 within 40 overs.
