IT was a low-scoring weekend in Division Three, but that didn’t stop players from Highgate and South Hampstead celebrating rare wins.
Carman Mapatuna notched-up 36 runs, while David Benton and Sam Joseph both hit 30 as Highgate scored 132 all out off 52 overs in their home match against Harrow St Mary’s.
An impressive wicket haul from Benton turned it into a winning score as he took 5-27 to help dismiss Harrow for 117 to earn Highgate
a narrow 15-run victory, only their first in seven attempts.
A quick-fire 72 not out off 70 balls from Nish Patel saw South Hampstead claim their second win of the season in their home match against Enfield.
Amit Chakrawarti took five wickets at the expense of just 30 runs, while Patel took 3-26 as South Hampstead bowled Enfield out for 153 after 55 overs.
Patel’s super showing with the bat made light work of the run chase as he smashed nine fours and three sixes on his way to guiding South Hampstead to 154-3 to seal a seven-wicket victory.
