FIRE crews used a 32 metre ladder and drones as they spent yesterday (Tuesday) evening battling a blaze at the top of a house converted into flats in Hampstead.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were the scene of a fire on Netherhall Gardens in Hampstead. The fourth floor of the building had been alight along with part of the roof.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by ambulance teams

The London Fire Brigade’s Control Officers received more than 30 calls about the fire just after 6.30pm.

It was under control shortly after 9pm but crews remained on scene to fully extinguish the fire and expected to remain on the scene through the night.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, the Brigade said.
