ZOMBIES captain Vlad Levitsky (pictured) praised the new-found strength of depth surging throughout his squad after they chalked up one of the biggest shocks of the season so far on Monday night.

Having pocketed 12 wins out of 12 in division two of the Chalk Farm Pool League, the big question on everyone’s lips wasn’t would runaway leaders the King’s Cross Barbarians win – but by how many frames.

Their 13th outing proved to be a horrific one, however, as they were haunted by their Holloway rivals.

“At the beginning of the season we struggled to find consistent players who would turn up for games, and even had to forfeit one match because we couldn’t field a full team,” revealed Vlad after watching his resurgent side seal their shock 5-4 victory.

“But now with a couple of solid new players we’ve recorded two unlikely, but well-deserved, wins against strong opposition.

“We enjoyed a storming comeback to beat the Green Man in our previous game and have now surprised the previously unbeaten Barbarians.”

Zombies, who took their name after being formed at the Winchester pub – a venue famed for being where they filmed the 2004 comedy horror film Shaun of the Dead, have now crept up to ninth place in the division two table.
