• I CAN understand why Cllr Marcus Boyland believes that some of Camden Council’s estates were only built for a 15-year life, but that has got nothing to do with the quality of the original schemes, (‘Cardboard’ council estates only designed to last 15 years, claims Labour’s party whip, March 3).

The fact is that his council’s chronic neglect of proper maintenance and a relentless reluctance to spend money of repairs would shorten the life of the best-laid plans and that is what happened in many parts of Camden. Much to the annoyance of us who were paying rent to them!
