Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn
• MORE rewriting of history by Momentum – Sarah Friday (If Labour elects Sir Keir Starmer leader, it will lose the next general election, February 6) quotes Len McCluskey, leader of Unite, blaming Labour’s defeat on its second-referendum policy.
They want us to forget that last autumn McCluskey actively supported Jeremy Corbyn’s call for a second referendum.
This is still on the Unite website: McCluskey “praises Corbyn and Labour’s approach, which is to negotiate the best possible Brexit deal then put it to the people alongside an option to remain”.
McCluskey wrote: “Let the people decide. What could be clearer – or more honourable – than that?” It was widely reported. Corbyn and McCluskey must take responsibility for Labour’s defeat.
