Consultations have been a mockery

Thursday, 2nd September 2021

• CAMDEN Council’s own report on the Haverstock Hill cycling routes consultation made it clear that 55 per cent of respondents objected.

Of these, 69 per cent were local residents and owners of shops and businesses, but Camden has approved the cycling routes regardless.

The recent consultation on trialling e-scooter hire and use in Camden produced a majority of 272 against the scheme out of 435 respondents. Cabinet member Adam Harrison has also given this the green light.

A further consultation with a closing date of September 5 is seeking our views about making the “No Right Turns” at the top of Swain’s Lane into Pond Square and Bisham Gardens permanent.

This is a major concern for many residents and businesses in the area who are well aware that the trial period during a pandemic and lockdowns has provided distorted data.

Holding such a consultation during the month of August is a double whammy against democracy.

Let’s see if Camden makes this a hat trick.
