PARENTS, teenagers and businesses have warned of the threat of “constant robbery” outside Tufnell Park tube station.
The Tufnell Park Fish & Kebab, directly opposite, said schoolchildren from Acland Burghley are being targeted by muggers whizzing about on e-bikes.
One tourist sought shelter in the shop after a robber attempted to steal his £800 Canada Goose jacket and its CCTV footage showed a Deliveroo jacket mounting the pavement in a phone-nabbing drive-by.
Jason, from the kebab shop, said: “People come out of the station, because they pay with their phone they have the phone in their hand or they’re looking for directions because they’ve come for a gig or something, and then all of a sudden their phone is just snatched and gone.”
Residents have told the New Journal about a rise in thefts, including parent Lucy Reese, who said: “I just think that people need to be aware that that area is not what they think it is. It’s a bit of a robbery hotspot at the moment.”
Her 16-year-old son described how one of his friends had been robbed at knifepoint last week, adding: “I’ve been really nervous on my walk home from school.”
