Conor Campbell: his first goal came in just six seconds

MOVE over Ledley King, there’s a new record-breaking goal-grabber in town.

The former Spurs captain went down in history when he scored after just 10 seconds for Tottenham in their Premier League game against Bradford City back in December 2000.

But on Saturday, speedy striker Conor Campbell bagged the fastest goal ever recorded in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League when he netted just six seconds into Kentish Town Football Academy’s Under-11s League Cup quarter-final.

What made Conor’s feat even more remarkable was that it was opponents Pro Touch Soccer Academy who kicked off the match!

From the whistle Pro Touch played the ball back to a defender, but wide-awake Conor nipped in to steal possession before lashing an unstoppable left-foot shot into the back of the net.

“The super-fast strike was Conor’s just reward for pressing the opposition right from the start, just like I’d asked the boys to do before the game,” said Kentish Town’s Under-11s coach TJ O’Leary, who also coaches Women’s Super League champions Chelsea Ladies.

“It was no fluke he was in the right place to take advantage.”

Conor’s lightning strike set Town on their way to a convincing 4-1 victory and, with it, a deserved place in the semi-finals of the cup.

Winger Jay Fleischmann and Mergim Krasniqi were also on target, before Conor finished what he had started by scoring his second of the game.

It was a good weekend for Town, with their Under-12s also running out 7-1 winners over Just Play in the league.

Oscar del Torto and Al Reese Minsiomi bagged two goals apiece while Julio Fresneda, Callum Currie and Reece McCluskey were also on target.
