DIVISION One champions Cobden Athletic flew the flag for the Camden Sunday League in spectacular style at the weekend when they beat Danson Albion 7-0 in the second round of the London FA Intermediate Cup.
Steven Bruce set the ball rolling with a tap in after just seven minutes before Patrick Jones took centre stage with a deadly double strike to make it 3-0 at the break.
Manager Dave “Magic Man” Willis clearly ordered more of the same in the second half as Bruce, Kaleb King, Chris knott and left-back Harry Pederson all added to the goals to complete the rout.
Back in Division One AFC Camden Borough are still awaiting their first win after losing 3-2 against title-chasing Surreal Madrid.
Borough took the lead when the returning Jay Ellis set-up strike partner Jack Churchill for the opening goal with an outstanding through ball that was equally matched by Churchill’s finish.
Madrid soon equalised but missed a golden opportunity to take the lead when Alex Vasconcellos gave away a penalty.
They paid the price when Camden Borough retook the lead just before the break thanks to another clinical finish from Churchill, who turned the defender and cooly slotted past the keeper.
In the second half Madrid rallied and fought back to earn the three points they needed to take over at the top of the table.
