AS we predicted, there was indeed a shock in the opening round of the Liam Tarrant Cup on Monday as newcomers Cousins Elite pocketed a comfortable win over last season’s runner-up King’s Cross Hurricanes.
Elite’s Jed Wardley stepped up with an excellent clearance as he potted his remaining six yellows before sinking the black to wrap up a 5-2 win for the Finsbury Park-based side.
Elsewhere Slattery’s put their disappointing form in the Chalk Farm Pool League to one side to book their spot in the second round of the cup.
Despite having not won a single league game in Division Two this season, Michael Slattery’s side managed to engineer a 5-4 victory over Regent’s Park Tenants’ Association.
The Boston Arms, the Sir Robert Peel, the Green Man ‘B’, Peckwater TA and the Peckwater Playboys also all progressed into the second round, set for January 20.
