Chaos awaits the 168 stand
Thursday, 6th October 2022
• YOU published a letter from me on September 22 about Camden Council’s proposals to remove the 168 bus stand in South End Green, in which I said that the buses standing in Fleet Road would be 24s instead of 168s.
I now realise this was naïve, as it would require management by Transport for London and the bus companies, and experience shows there is no chance of that.
So it would be first come first served at South End Close, and we would see empty 168s trundling round the block (past both sides of Fleet Primary School) to stand in Fleet Road.
There is another consideration not only concerning the buses: the Slip Road does what it says and is there for a very good reason. If it is closed traffic coming down Pond Street wanting to turn left will have to wait at the bottom of Pond Street.
It should be obvious that this will cause traffic to back up, with both delays and further worsening of air quality.
