THE Highgate Harriers will be looking to take a giant step towards retaining the men’s Metropolitan Cross-Country League title when they line-up for the penultimate meet of the season at Horsenden Hill in Middlesex on Saturday.
The champions can’t afford any slip-ups in the muddy conditions as they’re just 31 points ahead of chasing rivals Serpentine RC in the division one table having amassed 3,165 points from their opening three fixtures.
The Harriers are closing in on what promises to be a frantic and fantastic finale when the league comes to an end in February.
The club’s Under-17s men’s squad, the senior women’s division one side and the veteran women’s division two team are also all within touching distance of being crowned champions.
Whatever happens on race day, the one thing that is for sure is that Highgate can look forward to a lot of success in 2015.
On Saturday brothers Dempster and Terry Fawden both won their respective Under-15s and Under-17s races to lead their teams to victory at the Middlesex Cross-Country Championships.
Sasha Fear finished seventh to help the Under-13s girls’ team win their age group, while Hannah Viner and Georgia Fear also won golds.
