DOUBLES specialists Sonny Saunders and Danny James showed just how hungry they are to regain their title when they took to the table on Tuesday night in the Chalk Farm Pool League.

The Sir Robert Peel duo saw their dominant run in the competition brought to a shock end last season when Boston pairing Everton Berry and Mo Shah knocked them out of the competition – ending any hopes they had of being crowned champions for the fifth year in a row.

But Sonny and Danny looked like they were right back at the front of the cue to win the doubles’ championship on Tuesday when they pocketed a comfortable 2-0 win over Prince of Wales pairing Stephen Moriarty and Michaela McEvoy. In a night of top action, singles champion Rupe Ward was knocked off his perch by Neil Faux, while Roy Cooper edged a step closer to successfully defending his crown in the seniors’ event.
