Care homes should have a defibrillator and staff with first aid training

Thursday, 26th April 2018

• I WAS appalled to read that a lady died a few yards from her care home with carers who apparently did not know what to do, (Shock over missing life-saver, April 12).

They “did not appear to be trained in basic first aid” and the so-called “care” home did not have a defibrillator; and apparently few of them do.

Surely we must bring in a law stating that these “care” homes all must have a defibrillator and their staff should all go on first aid courses, or what is the point of them?

It seems there is no care at all in these places we trust our nearest and dearest to be looked after in.
