Dying trees, their bases a convenient local garbage dump

• IT took well over 20 years to finally get four trees planted on the much-neglected west side of Finchley Road by Barclays Bank.

After no visible aftercare, two of the four trees died forthwith. Many, many, months later two replacement trees were planted.

These too lost no time proceeding to dying mode: no water; no visible aftercare; their bases a convenient local garbage dump.

Suddenly “care” bags appeared. Please note that it is the support of this poor specimen (pictured above) that is being “watered” while the tree goes on to die.
