BOYS and girls from St Aloysius School in Somers Town couldn’t hide their beaming smiles this week after being recognised for their ethics on the court.
Pupils from the primary in Aldenham Street were presented with the Spirit of the Games Award after taking part in the Camden Schools Sports Association (CSSA) Netball League.
The accolade is part of the School and Community Games, which is one of the Legacy Projects organised by Camden’s Sport and Physical Activity Team.
And it is awarded to the school that best demonstrates determination, honesty, passion, respect, self-belief and team-work. St Aloysius School certainly celebrated in style on Thursday as they finished first and second in the CSSA Netball Tournament, which was held at the Sobell Centre in Holloway.
PE teacher Paul Romano said: “St Aloysius are very proud to have placed first and second in the netball tournament. This was a great achievement for our school as we have only been playing consistently for the last three seasons.”
“More importantly, however, was the news that we had won the Spirit of the Games Award as it emphasises all the values we feel strongly in instilling to our pupils.”
