THERE was plenty for Islington Borough to celebrate in their match against rivals Ruislip as they netted their biggest win of the season in the Capital Girls League.

Played at Chase Lodge in Barnet, the Under-11s side needed just 10 minutes of their first fixture of 2013 to find the target as Eliza Hicks added the final touch to a neat passing move.

The early goal ignited a scoring spree with Hicks going on to complete her hat-trick, a feat mirrored by team-mate Charlotte Ward. Gracie Leigh Dunkley also chipped in with two goals as Islington wrapped up a mighty 8-0 win.

Manager Chloe Law said afterwards, “The commitment and hard work from the whole team was great, and to score eight goals in our first game of 2013 is brilliant.”

Islington Borough also run Under-13 and Under-16 girls teams. Contact steven.fraser @aquaterra.org for details.
