TOP players from the Chalk Farm Pool League swapped their club colours for county on Sunday when they represented Central London at the English Blackball Championships.

Gloucester Globetrotter Paul Smith, who lives in Angel, put in a captain’s showing as he won all four of his games against Middlesex to lead the ‘A’ team to a narrow 19-17 victory at sponsors’ King’s Cross Hurricane Rooms.

The ‘B’ team also pocketed a good win, with skipper Chris Heim, who lives in Kentish Town, dominating the table in his individual matches.

The Sir Robert Peel player won all four of his games to lead Central London to a commanding 20-16 victory over last season’s national semi-finalists.

The capital’s top potters just missed out on a hat-trick of wins as their ‘C’ team were beaten 24-12 in their match against Middlesex.

In the seniors’ division captain Mark Piercey won six out of his eight frames to lead the Central London ‘A’ team to victories against both the Middlesex ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams.

The county stars will be back in action on Sunday July 7 when they travel to Essex to continue their bid to qualify for the national finals.

The Chalk Farm Pool League is inviting teams from across Camden and Islington to join the action. Anyone interested should email: cfpl@chalkfarmpool.com for further details.
