Can we have the red plaque to the national rent strike resited?

Thursday, 30th March 2017

• THREE mentions of commemorative plaques in your March 23 edition, including the missing
St Pancras Borough coat of arms (Missing coat of arms mystery), brought to my mind the missing red plaque from Silverdale on the Regent’s Park Estate.

The Silverdale cut-through to the bus stops was filled in to create more accommodation and stop gang members evading police-hunting drug dealers.

The red plaque mounted there commemorated a national rent strike that began in this area last century.

Despite a promise from the council that the plaque would be resited, it disappeared. Do any your readers remember it or have a photograph, and can we have a campaign to have this piece of our history remounted on Langdale or Coniston, out of the path of imminent HS2 bulldozers?
