Camden’s strategy on resurfacing roads is damaging
Friday, 15th November 2019
• CAMDEN Council has declared a climate emergency, yet they have got Volker Highways resurfacing Lady Margaret Road.
I walk down this road every day and there are no potholes or bumps except for the speed bumps. So why are they stripping away the surface and replacing it at great expense to both the council taxpayers and the climate?
All that heavy machinery using fuel and all those materials that have to be produced, generating CO2. Just think of all the climate damage being done all over Camden with this unnecessary programme of resurfacing roads according to some pre-arranged schedule.
All that is needed is a part-time employee to go round the borough reporting any defects in the roads and for the machines to go round and fix them as they occur. That would help both the taxpayers and the climate.
