Camden’s council tax and complaints departments need to be investigated

Thursday, 19th July 2018

• I WAS pleased that you published a letter from me a month or two ago on the subject of Camden’s council tax department using a court summons as a first means of communication when there is a payment problem, (The struggle against the bullying council goes on, May 3).

I filed a complaint with Camden Council and was told by their complaints department to clear off. It has happened again.

The council tax department has failed to provide a receipt for a large payment, only incidentally acknowledged a smaller one, has failed to use emails as specifically requested and failed to provide a clear, itemised, statement of account to make payment easy.

I have asked them for a copy of their invoicing and bill chasing procedures and they have failed to provide that too. What they have done is to send me another summons, with £80 added on for good measure.

It is high time that these two departments, the council tax and the complaints departments were subject to a full and open inquiry. Inept incompetence is always expensive.

The council leader, Cllr Georgia Gould, has been kept informed and does not care. She must be told to investigate.
