Police at the crime scene this afternoon

A WOMAN was raped in a park in Camden Town last night (Sunday), police said.

Camden Gardens was cordoned off while forensic officers scoured the scene today. The victim, who is understood to be a Czech national aged in her 40s, is recovering in hospital.

Police said the park is being treated as a crime scene as part of their investigation into a “serious sexual assault” that took place on Sunday night.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 23:04hrs to reports that a woman had been raped in Camden Gardens, NW1.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a woman, aged in her 40s, injured. She was taken to a central London hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

“The victim is being supported by specialist officers.”
