Camden Swiss Cottage swimmers participated in the Póvoa De Varzim International Open meet in Portugal

SIX Camden Swiss Cottage swimmers were selected to represent Middlesex County at the Póvoa De Varzim International Open meet in Portugal.

The most exciting result came in the men’s open 4x100m freestyle relay where the top four teams all finished within 0.99 of a second of each other.

Camden Swiss Cottage duo Leo Jaggs (pictured left) and Bogac Ayhan (pictured right) joined forces with Melako Coker and Patrick Jack of Ealing Swimming Club to guide Middlesex to glory with an exceptional time of three minutes and 35.76 seconds.

The team had to be at their very best as they edged home just 0.4 secs ahead of second-placed Famalicoa (3.36.16), while FC Porto and Nautico Matobra finished joint third with their equalled time of 3.36.75 seconds.

In the solo ranks, Bogac finished seventh in the 100m butterfly, Leo took ninth place in the 50m freestyle and Edward Graham was 14th in the 200m individual medley.

The Camden contingent also made their mark in the girls’ competition.

Rosie Hughes, 17, won bronze medals in the 50m backstroke, clocking a time of 30.69 seconds, and the 100m backstroke, in 1.05.19.

Sophie Rittenhouse, 17, was fifth in the 100m backstroke, while Olivia Willis was sixth in the 200m backstroke and seventh in the 200m individua medley.
