CHAIR of the Camden Sports Council John Mann has insisted that they have enough money saved in the bank to keep their small grants programme going “for a couple more years”.
This year will represent something of a crossroads for the organisation as for the first time in over 30 years they prepare for life without any financial support from Camden Council. With their AGM taking place at the Talacre Community Sports Centre in Dalby Street, Kentish Town, on July 10, Mr Mann says there are no alarm bells ringing yet.
“Our finances have been well marshalled and we have enough reserves to continue with our small grants programme for a couple more years. We will, however, have to reassess our priorities for the future,” he said.
As well as its own future, the Sports Council will look at what is in store for sport within the borough and nationally by discussing the impact of the Olympic legacy.
Camden’s head of sport and physical activity Nigel Robinson and Lyndon Lynch, manager of the 2012 GB Paralympic football team, will share their perspectives on how the 2012 Olympics have affected the future for their respective areas of sport.
The AGM starts at 7pm.
