Camden should start with schools to promote renewable energy

climate march

School students in Westminster protesting over climate change

• MANY of our children joined the climate strike recently in protest at our collective failure to address the existential threat of climate change, (Pupil power fuels the politics of climate change, February 22).

Camden Council is under pressure to declare a climate emergency, which it should do. It should also be at the forefront of showing our kids that we are committed to change.

Walking around the borough recently I was struck by how few schools have renewable energy. Surely the council should be using its carbon offset funds and innovative community energy schemes, such as the one recently used to finance the solar installation at Caversham GP practice, to accelerate installation of renewables, starting with schools?
