THE Camden New Journal has today (Friday) been named among the top local newspapers by being shortlisted for a prestigious industry award. The newspaper was nominated for the Free Newspaper Of The Year award at the annual EDF Energy regional journalism awards. The winners will be announced in November, with the New Journal on the final shortlist alongside Kent On Sunday, The Wharf and the Ascot, Windsor and Eton Express

Deputy editor Richard Osley was shortlisted in the Digital Journalist Of The Year field.

Paul Linford, editor of the HoldtheFrontPage website, which helps sponsor the awards, said: “It is great to see the awards continuing to be so well supported across the London and South region. Congratulations to all who made it to this year’s shortlists.”

The New Journal already has one gong to its name this year, after winning the 'Campaign Of The Year' title at the Regional Press Awards, which covers all local newspaper titles in the entire United Kingdom. Judges rated our 'Save The Whittington Hospital' campaign as the best they had seen in the country's regional press.
