Bartley Robbins HS2

Bartley Robbins

• THANK you for bringing attention to the story of Bartley Robbins in relation to the HS2 takeover, (‘Give me a flat’ plea by last man in street HS2 emptied, June 14).

I am shocked and outraged that he has been put in this situation by no choice of his own and his life has been turned upside down by the plans of HS2 along with Camden Council; both guilty of failing to recognise or deal with the individuals who are affected by their ruthless, heartless, disconnected decisions.

The council has not only failed to acknowledge Mr Robbins but investigated him at a time when the council should have been sympathising with him and the others that were up heaved from their homes and businesses that they loved very much.

Mr Robbins, a much-loved, well-known character of Couburg Street, has been left alone and without the safety of the neighbours, leading to squatters, crime and arson in the houses next to his and I find this appalling.

How can things like this happen in a prime location in London and no support has been provided at all by the authorities or council! Camden should be ashamed.

A resident has been paying rent and council tax for decades and this is how they get treated, and they say they don’t have records going back that far! You would expect them to at least provide support and maintain (what they have left) of their reputation.

But no, they spend taxpayers’ money on investigation teams as if we are hardened criminals. I would like to investigate half of the staff they have working for them.
