A SQUAD of 19 swimmers representing Cally Masters certainly made a big splash at the weekend when they won the Middlesex Masters Championships.

Held at Barnet Copthall, the annual gala is open to all masters clubs in the region, with swimmers competing in the 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, as well as the 200m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

There were also a variety of relays races to take part in.

Countless hours of training at their home pool in Caledonian Road clearly paid off as the Cally women’s team won their event for the third year in a succession, while the men’s team put in one of their best performances in recent years to finish second.

When their scores were added together it was more than enough to earn the Islington-based club first place overall – and an impressive trophy to take home with them.
