DISTANCE runner Ryan McKinlay is going to miss out on Highgate Harriers crucial Southern League fixture on Saturday after being selected to run in the Scottish 3000 senior steeplechase.
McKinlay will be hoping to qualify for the Commonwealth Championships, which are being held in Glasgow next year.
It will be a tough pair of running shoes for experienced team manager John Oviasu to fill. In July McKinlay was fifth in the British Championships in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:07.8.
Meanwhile, you can show your support for the Harriers this Saturday as they look to secure promotion into Division Two of the Southern Athletics League.
The action gets underway at the Parliament Hill Fields athletics track in NW5 at midday, with a number of the club’s top young stars expected to be on show.
