THE Aussies aren’t the only overseas cricketers battling it out on British soil.
South Hampstead welcomed the unfamiliar guests from the California Cricket Academy to their Milverton Road ground in Brondesbury Park last week.
And on Friday, South Hampstead edged to a narrow 30-run victory over their transatlantic opponents in a closely-fought 20-Twenty match. The Under-17s sides met again on Sunday in a rematch where South Hampstead wrapped up a 2-0 win, this time with a 45-run victory.
California coach Avinash Ghirnikar said, “It was a fantastic series in tough conditions and the boys did us proud.”
