CAFE Rouge is to close its long-running Highgate village branch after more than 20 years.

The restaurant in a prime site in Pond Square will see its last day of croque monsieurs and mussels tomorrow (Sunday).

In a message to customers, the chain said: “We’d like to say a big thank you for your custom over the years. It has been a pleasure serving you.”

Strada  closed last year, leaving an empty unit nearby, while other chains Zizzi and Dim-T also moved out of Highgate.

The end of the Cafe Rouge branch comes after the closure of the company’s outlet in Hampstead High Street earlier this year.
