TABLE topper Caesar Contri might just of earned himself the reputation of a cool-hand hustler after putting in a star showing for Central London on Sunday in King’s Cross.
The Boston Arms potter usually lines-up for the capital’s ‘C’ team in the Blackball County Pool Championships. This time around, he was given the chance to impress at the top table when he was selected for the ‘A’ team in their match against Buckinghamshire.
Caesar more than proved his worth as he won all four of his individual frames at the Hurricane Rooms. But despite his efforts, the Central London team slipped to a 21-15 defeat.
Caesar wasn’t the only player to chalk up perfect stats for the Central London team. Leela Widger also won all four of her individual frames for the newly-formed women’s team.
Yet again, however, Leela’s outstanding cueing skills weren’t enough to rack up the points as opponents Buckinghamshire ran out 18-10 winners.
It wasn’t all bad news for Central London, however, with their ‘B’ team beating Bucks 21-13, with David Dugdale Jr winning three out of his four frames. The men’s senior ‘A’ team won 14-11 against Buckinghamshire’s ‘A’ team and 19-6 against their ‘B’ team.
The Central London County team are on the lookout for players who think they have what it takes to make the grade.
