TOP youth club Sapo Verde almost pulled off the signing of the January transfer window when Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin joined them on Monday for their match against AC United in the Camden and Islington Midweek League.

The Spanish right back stunned the club’s Under-9s team when he turned up pitch-side to watch the action unfold at Market Road.

Manager Sean McCarthy, who is a scout for Championship side Brentford, joked: “I put in a bid for Bellerin but the stumbling block was his wages.

“The players were thrilled to meet him, and he was more than happy to pose for a picture with them before their game.”

Sapo Verde’s hotshots were clearly inspired by meeting the Arsenal ace, as they ran out 5-0 winners against AC United thanks to goals from Danny Wise, Archie Gubb, Apache McVeigh, Samuel Tesfu and Albert Elliot.

Sapo Verde are always on the look-out for new talent, especially players in Year 6. Call Sean on 07947 207946 for details.
