AN outstanding individual display by Stephen Burke (above) helped the Central London ‘B’ team edge closer to qualifying for the National Finals of the English Blackball Pool Championships.

Taking to the tables at Fore Street Snooker Club in Tottenham on Sunday, Alp Sezer’s side got off to a shaky start and quickly found themselves 6-2 down against county rivals Middlesex.

Premier potter Stephen, who plays for team sponsors the King’s Cross Hurricanes in the Chalk Farm Pool League, won three of his four games to help Central London fight back to earn an 18-18 draw.

The result leaves the ‘B’ team in second position with three matches to play in their regional group, with the top three teams qualifying for the finals.
